Sound familiar?

  • My mammogram report says I have dense breasts, and no one explained what that means.
  • My doctor, my friend, and the internet all tell me something different about when to get screened.
  • I take hormones, or I am thinking about starting, and I keep reading scary headlines. I do not know what to believe.
  • Breast cancer runs in my family, and I am not sure what that means for me.

You do not need a medical background to sort this out. In about an hour, Kali walks you through how screening, risk, and hormone therapy fit together, so you know where you stand and what to ask your provider.

What Kali will cover

Kali goes through each of these using current guidelines and research, without the scare tactics.

When should I start mammograms, and how often?

Major organizations do not agree on this. Kali explains why, and how your own risk changes the answer.

My mammogram says dense breasts. Now what?

About half of women have dense breasts. It is common, but dense tissue can make a mammogram harder to read, so it helps to know what to ask next.

Can thermography replace a mammogram?

No. They measure different things, and thermography is not recommended as a replacement. Kali compares the two side by side.

Does hormone therapy cause breast cancer?

The headlines make it sound simpler than it is. Estrogen alone and combined therapy are not the same thing, and your own baseline risk matters. Kali goes through what the evidence shows.

What can I do to lower my risk?

Movement, alcohol, body weight, smoking, and food all play a part. Kali focuses on changes you can actually keep up, not perfection.

Which symptoms should never wait?

A normal screening does not cancel out a new change. Kali covers what to watch for, even after a clear mammogram.

Your screening plan starts with your risk

Two women the same age can need very different screening plans, and your own risk can change over time.

Where do you fall?

Average risk

Routine screening, planned with your provider around your age and preferences.

Increased risk

Family history, dense breasts, or your reproductive history can change what your plan should include.

Higher risk

Known gene mutations, chest radiation before age 30, or a very high calculated lifetime risk may call for earlier and additional screening.

Kali shows you how to figure out where you fall and what to ask your provider next.

Family Nurse Practitioner, Valley Vital Medicine

  • Board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners
  • Nearly 8 years as a labor and delivery nurse
  • Originally from Harvey, ND
  • Wife and mother of two young children

I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. I am passionate about helping women feel confident, energized, and empowered through every stage of life, from the childbearing and postpartum years to perimenopause and postmenopause.

I have a special interest in helping women navigate hormonal and wellness concerns across all stages of life, including menstrual irregularities, postpartum changes, fatigue, weight gain, low libido, decreased motivation or passion, pain with intercourse, and symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause. I understand how frustrating it can feel when you no longer feel like yourself, and I am committed to identifying the root cause of symptoms and creating individualized care plans tailored to your personal health goals.

More about Kali's background

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent nearly 8 years working as a labor and delivery nurse, where I developed a deep appreciation for women’s health and the importance of compassionate, individualized care. Those years at the bedside strengthened my desire to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with patients while helping them optimize their health and improve their overall quality of life.

Originally from Harvey, ND, I grew up in a small, supportive community that taught me the importance of connection, compassion, and giving back. That sense of community continues to shape who I am today, both personally and professionally. As a wife and mother of two young children, I understand the demands women face while trying to balance their health, family, and daily responsibilities.

This session is educational. At the end, Kali will share how Valley Vital Medicine can help if you want next steps. You do not need to book anything to get value from attending.
